Feng Shui Secret Revealed………
Thank you for your overwhelming response to my previous articles on Feng Shui. Feng Shui does not offer ready-made solutions to life’s myriad problems. What it does is help you recognize the problem and then you just have to find a solution. I share with you my experience with Feng Shui.

In this article I am going to help you find your Kua number and that will tell you your auspicious and inauspicious directions. The Kua numbers are derived from the Eight Mansions formula for Feng Shui orientations. The Eight Mansions or Pa Chai (or Ba Zhai as it is called in Mandarin) is one of the most potent and easy to follow of Feng Shui axioms. The Kua or Eight Mansions formula is based on the assertion that people are either an East life group or West life group person. Eight Mansions uses the eight point compass directions, i.e. the four cardinal directions and four inter-cardinal directions to locate the positive and negative energy for people.

This Eight Mansions or Pa Chai formula must not be confused with pop Feng Shui or other schools of Feng Shui which divide the house into eight sectors, corresponding to wealth, fame, career, relationships, etc.

Feng Shui for a house is mainly done for the MAN of the house. It is an old Eastern way of doing things. If the man of the house is happy, wealthy and healthy everything else falls into place. My advice though to clients is to do the Feng Shui for the main breadwinner.

All you need to calculate your Kua number is your date of birth and the gender. Once you calculate your kua number and find out your lucky directions orient you’re sitting and sleeping directions to your number one direction. For this you need a basic compass that you can buy at any camping or hardware store.

Your number 1 position is the Sheng Chi or life Generating – This will bring great abundance and happiness if all other aspects in life are in order. This is where you should have your main door or at least enter your house through this direction so it could even be the door from the garage or the back door, the top of your bed must point to this direction, seat yourself at your dining table facing your number 1 position. You should also face the computer or your work desk facing this direction. If you are going for an important meeting or an interview, carry your little compass and try to face at least one of your auspicious directions.

Number 2 position is the Tien Yi or Heavenly Doctor - It mainly pertains to good health. I recommend this be used for people with chronic health problems or the elderly.

Number 3 position is the Nien Yin or Family harmony/Relationships - Good spot for kids as they will get along well with all at home and outside. But anybody wanting to improve their relationships can use this direction.

Number 4 position is Fu Wei or the self or personal development. This is a good position for improving one’s own self. When selecting the bedrooms in the house too, select one that is in your most auspicious location. For e.g. if your Sheng Chi is North select the bedroom that is located in the North of the house.   Now coming to the 4 inauspicious directions.

Number 5 position is the Ho Hai - Anyone that faces this direction will encounter Mishaps. Things will not go according to plan.

Number 6 position is Wu Gwei and facing this direction will lead to arguments at home and work.

Number 7 position is Liu sha and this will bring in legal and health problems.

And worst of all is the Number 8 direction which is Chueh Ming; it is considered a total disaster or loss direction. This is a direction completely to be avoided

The formula to calculate your Kua number is as follows:
Establish your Chinese Year of Birth. The Chinese solar calendar is used in Feng Shui, and the Chinese Solar Year usually starts on Feb 4. This means that if you were born on Feb 3 of 2002, you belong to the previous year 2001. It gets a bit tricky if you were born on either the 3rd or 4th of Feb because sometimes the New Year does not fall on the same day every year, you would need to check the Chinese calendar to be precise.  Write to me if your birth date falls during that time. I will help you calculate your Kua number. For people born in other months the western calendar and Year of birth will suffice.

FOR A MALE:
Take the last two digits of the Year of Birth and add them till you get a single digit.

E.g. for a man born on 15 Feb 1965, Take the Year of birth, 1965, Add the last two digits of the year of birth, 6+5=11; 1+1=2. (Keep adding till you reduce it to one single digit).     Then minus this number from 10, so 10-2=8. So for a man born in 1965 his Kua number is 8.

FOR A FEMALE:
Take the last two digits of the Year of the Birth and add them till you get a single digit. (e.g.; 1965, 6+5=11; 1+1=2. Add 5 to this number, so 2+5=7. So a female born in 1965 will have 7 as her Kua number.

Special note: If total reaches 5, Males assume Kua 2 and females assume Kua 8.

The formula changes for those born after 2000. For males it will be to subtract 9 from the total of the last two digits of the year of birth) and for females it will be to add 6 to the sum of the last two digits.

Now that you’ve worked out your Kua number here is a table that will tell you your directions.
